The Science

Red light therapy — researchers call it photobiomodulation — is a well-studied field. Different wavelengths of light reach different depths of the skin. LUMA uses three.

red · 620nm

The visible glow — the wavelength range most associated with radiance and the look of fine lines.

near-infrared · 850nm

The deeper, invisible light, associated with skin that looks rested and refreshed.

blue · 460nm

For the appearance of clearer, calmer, fresher skin.

what light can — and can't — do

Light therapy is gentle and gradual, and it rewards consistency. We talk in terms of how your skin looks — more radiant, refreshed, smoother. What it can't do: replace your sunscreen, fix deep concerns overnight, or work if it lives in a drawer. We'd rather tell you that now.
